Provide home visits for prospective adopters
A Home Visitor visits the homes of potential animal adopters, ensuring their suitability to adopt an animal. They will then re-visit the home to ensure the adoption has been a success. Home Visitors talk to potential animal adopters to ensure they have thought about the implications of owning a pet.
The role will involve:
- Attending a Home Visiting Workshop before undertaking any home visits.
- Being familiar with the re-homing policies and practices.
- Making contact with potential adopter.
- Reporting the findings of the home visit to the Re-Homing Co-ordinator.
- Completing the documentation regarding the visit.
- Working with fellow volunteers and staff as appropriate.
You must be able to communicate effectively with people and accurate completion of documents is essential. A friendly, confident approach is also desirable as is experience of having worked with animals or owning them. Training on the charity will be given as required.
You can commit as much or as little time as you like but be prepared for unsocial hours such as weekends and evenings when potential adopters are most likely to be at home.
This is a great role for those who enjoy meeting people but are unable to commit to regular hours.
